| Customer Reviews: honeywell 17005 hepa air filter July 24, 2010 jctich This air filter is very quiet on low and filters the air in a large bedroom and closet. I got it to reduce allergens to cats for guests who are allergic to the felines in our home.
good, but i see no remote? June 8, 2010 black lung bowevill (dusty bole) The unit is NOT loud as listed in other reviews, mine is not unbalanced, seems real stable.
The high setting is very comfortable to sleep with on.I must have no distractions while i sleep, but this unit does not bother me.It is programmable wich i like because i dont want it to run 10 hours straight while im gone.
After only 1 hr of running i could notice the air quality change. There is a strong new smell in the filter when you get it.sould diminish over time..The pre filter seems ok.its dark black.
so i dont know what the guy was talking about when he said a dusting of charcoal. i cant really tell if mine has any because the whole thing is black.,but it should catch the big stuff
before it gets to the hepa filter wich only needs to be vaccummed out 2 time a year.permanant filter.
Its everything i wanted in a purifier based on the description.
the only reason i give it 4 stars ,was because they didnt send a remote!!! wich says it is included.
Great for the Price April 26, 2010 S. Webb (Houston, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this at Home Depot after reading the reviews. Several reviewers gave this a three star or less rating because it is "loud". But they never quantified what "loud" was so I decided to ignore them and see for myself. To me, running this on high sounds like being in your car with the A/C on high. Same with the medium setting. Low is a little quieter than the A/C in my apartment. I ran the unit on high for the first few days; at night I put it in the living room and I would switch it to my bedroom before I went to work. This past weekend I was not at home and I left it in my room on medium the entire time. Last night I slept with it in my room on the low setting. After almost a week the first bar has turned black. It does take up a bit of room since it needs to sit out pretty far from the wall - and furniture - but I bought two bamboo placemats and found a spot in each room for it.
The only "con" I can think of is it is a little difficult to set up the programs but I have time to figure all that out. The filters are not too expensive and I have NO problem throwing them out four times a year. It costs me $20-$30 every time I have to go to the doctor for my allergies, not including the Benadryl, prescriptions, and ointments I have to keep buying.
I may come back and update after further investigation (into whether or not this helps my contact dermatitis too) but so far so good!
Had for over 3 years -LOVE IT April 11, 2010 Mike S. (Staten Island, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this air filter because my apartment has a mold issue (of which I am very allergic). Also, I hate smells of all kinds, perfumes/ candles/ lotions etc. This air filter works well at cleaning the air from these annoyances. For ex. when I blow out unscented candles in my BR before I go to bed the filter gets that "blown out candle" smell away in about 1 to 2 minutes on high. Love it. Also, I am a person who likes "white noise" while I sleep so I dont mind the sound on high. Its definitely less noisy than my AC on low when the filter is on high, but it is not silent either. PS I never change the charcoal filter or the HEPA or clean it and it still works awesome / no allergies in 3 years. [ I use it every night.]
